Unbeaten throughout the whole of the Womenís Team event earlier in the tournament, when she guided Singapore to gold; Zhou Yihan maintained her unblemished record to win the Womenís Singles title at the 20th Commonwealth Games in Surat, India on Monday 21st December.

The top seed, on the concluding day of action, the 21 year old justified her exalted status by ending the hopes of the host nation.....

Fair Play Award, David McBeath Rewarded for Example Set in Surat

A silver medal in the Menís Team event alongside Helshan Weerasinghe, Tom Jarvis and Alexander Ramsden but not the best of fortunes in the Menís Singles competition when beaten by the host nationís Amalraj Anthony; there was a golden lining for Englandís David McBeath when proceedings closed at the 20th Commonwealth Championships in Surat, India on Monday 21st December.

The 23 year old received the ďFair PlayĒ award.

Singaporeís Zhou Yihan and Lin Ye, alongside Indiaís Manika Batra and Mouma Das, the respective top four seeds, all reached the Womenís Singles penultimate round.

Resigned to the bench for the majority of the Team event earlier in the proceedings, Englandís Alexander Ramsden was the player to cause the biggest upset in the first stage of the Menís Singles event at the 20th Commonwealth Championships in Surat, India, on Saturday 19th December.

In an event which where only players finishing in first places in each of the 12 groups progressed to the main draw, the 15 year old excelled expectations to beat Sri Lankaís Rohan Sirisena, now 33 years old and one of the most experienced players in the whole tournament.....

The leading names not required in the initial stage of the Womenís Singles event at the 20th Commonwealth Championships in Surat, India; it was the host nation who had the greatest reason to celebrate when play concluded on the evening of Saturday 19th December.

Divya Deshpande, Madhurika Patkar and Kritiwaka Roy, alongside Louiza Kourea of Cyprus excelled expectations to secure first places in their respective groups and thus advanced to the main draw in an event where there was minimal margin for error.

England Causes Second Stage Upset but India Claims Title

Two wins from Soumyajit Ghosh and one from Sathiyan Gnanasekaran secured gold for the host nation in the Menís Team event at the 2015 Commonwealth Championships in Surat, India on the late afternoon of Friday 18th December.

The second seeds, a three matches to one success was posted against England, the no.3 seeds, to secure the title.
